Heidi Mumford-Yeo is a British actress, author & vegan model.

It was Heidi’s drama teacher who really encouraged her to pursue acting as a career. ‘’Literature and Drama were the only things I really enjoyed at school. I'm quite an analytical person, I really enjoy getting under the layers, working out what drives someone, what makes someone tick."

After her A levels, Heidi auditioned for drama school, but after winning places at both LAMDA & Italia Conti, funding fell through and unsure about her next step, she reluctantly embarked on a Law degree and graduated from the University of Durham with Honours in International Law.

“I didn't enjoy my degree very much, it wasn't for me, but think I mainly survived it because I was so involved with the University’s Theatre scene, it kept me sane!"
She also took a non-core module in Drama in which she gained a First.

Having played the lead in numerous productions including Abbey in The Crucible and Titania in A Midsummer’s Night dream she performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival before moving down to London and enrolling at the notoriously tough acting school, ‘The Poor School’.

“It was hard;  I was studying full time and working full time, but I think that ultimately galvanises you and prepares you for this industry. It wasn’t easy but nothing that's worth it does come easily," she says of her time there.

During Heidi’s first year of training she was chosen ahead of several thousand auditonees, to star in the hit channel four, BAFTA nominated series ‘Bollywood Star’ filmed in the UK and Mumbai. She won critical acclaim and the Mail on Sunday reviewed her as a ‘serious acting talent’. As a result of Bollywood Star, she was offered a lead role in acclaimed Indian director, Pooja Bhatt's latest film in Mumbai and several projects followed in London.

After graduating, Heidi worked in the West End and has starred in several shorts and feature films. One feature film, 'Porichoi', in which she stars alongside prolific Indian superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee, required her to learn part of the script in Bengali.

"Porichoi was an interesting experience, especially learning a script in Bengali and lines that were being re-written each day but I love a challenge, and we had a great director with a vision. I've been cast as Russian in three other films, so it was lovely to learn a new language and accent!"

Heidi is adamant that part of being an actor involves being in class and developing. Her on-going study has included Screen Acting at RADA where she came top of class, Method Masterclass, Meisner Technique at The Actor’s Centre and regular classes when she is in LA.

“One of the reasons I love being an actor is that it’s a continual process. It’s a mirror of to life, we’re constantly growing and changing and as an actor that’s exciting.”

On the roles she aspires to, Heidi is candid:

“I am open, and I like challenges. I fight against preconceptions and stereotypes, I always have. I like stories that aren’t predictable. I like people that have lived and have something to say, a story to tell. I love people's complexity. Show me a character people would find unbearable, and I'd like to think I can show you something redeeming about them, something that might change your mind about them."

Aside from acting, Heidi is an ardent animal rights campaigner, and 2015 saw the launch of her pioneering app 'Ethical Animal' enabling people to capture and report animal abuse and neglect.  In 2017 she was appointed Angel Ambassador for 'Angels for the Innocent Foundation', which sees her campaign across a raft of animal rights and conservation issues, as well as being a passionate proponent of a vegan lifestyle and regular guest speaker at vegan events and forums.

Heidi is also an author, with a serious of children books in publication. Her debut novel, Penumbra, will be published in 2018.

Heidi lives in London with her husband and two dogs Indiana Jones and Freddy.
